Listen to Obituary

H. Marie (nee Craycraft) Gastineau

Our mom Marie was received into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Saviour, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 91. She has been reunited with her husband, Don, her parents, 7 siblings as well as a multitude of extended family and dear friends. Marie was born in Mt. Sterling, KY and moved to Cincinnati at the age of 18, where she worked as a secretary for Franklin Research in the early 1950s. A co-worker invited her to visit First Christian Assembly of God in Downtown Cincinnati, where she faithfully started attending and eventually met a young man that finally convinced her to go on a date with him. Despite a first date at White Castle, the relationship resulted in a 59 ½ year marriage to Don until his death in December of 2021. Marie raised her 2 children in West Chester, OH and was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed selling Sarah Coventry jewelry in the 60’s and 70’s. She was often told she could sell a freezer to an Eskimo! When her kids were older, she worked several part-time retail jobs for many years. Marie loved being around people, and if you met her more than once you were considered her friend. She was definitely a social butterfly and enjoyed hosting a weekly Bible study through her church and loved to entertain in her home. She always looked forward to planning vacations with friends or dinner out with a large group. If you spent any time with her, you discovered that she loved God, her church and her family. She and Don were faithful members of Tri-County Assembly of God (currently New Heights Church) in Fairfield, OH for 36 years before retiring to TN. While there they attended Faith Assembly for 18 years before returning to Ohio and Tri-County Assembly.

Marie is survived by her 2 children, Vernon (Cheryl) and Julie Gastineau; 2 granddaughters, Lauren and Marci; 2 grandsons Evan and Mason; 1 great-grandson Anthony; and her step-grandson Jim (Jennifer) Stephens and their children, Blake and Jayde. Also survived by a brother Allie (Juanita) Craycraft, sister Jean Rector, both of Selma, IN, and a sister-in-law Delores Sess of Punta Gorda, FL. Visitation will be on Tuesday December 2, 2025, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday December 3, 2025, at 12:00pm at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield, OH with Pastor Justin Hansen officiating. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park, 11825 Pippin Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45231. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.avancefuneralhome.com
