Harold Lloyd Doughty

“H” Lloyd Doughty passed on May 1, 2021 at the age of 77, at his home in Fairfield, Ohio.  His battle with medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.  Despite the pain, Lloyd came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Lloyd graduated from Garfield High School in 1961, followed by active duty in the Navy.  He enjoyed a 36-year career at Avon Products.  He continued to work after retirement for 12 years at Superior Acura in Fairfield. As much as Lloyd enjoyed his career, he enjoyed playing, coaching and umpiring sports even more.  He played and umpired softball at Northend and Powerhouse Fields and coached basketball, softball and baseball for all potential athletes in the family. Lloyd believed that “The 3-R’s” Respect, Responsibility and Reality were the “Keys to Life”.  His playful sense of humor is the characteristic that all would agree was his most endearing trait albeit diabolical at times. In 1964 Lloyd married his high school sweetheart Sharon Short.  Lloyd was the proud father of LeAnna “Ruth” and Bryan “Bob-Lar” but his true joy came from Suzanne, Sean, Matthew, Madison, Lilly and Sophia, his grandchildren and Elijah, Willow, Grace, Nova and Rowan, his great-grandchildren.  In addition, Lloyd had a special connection with Adam, Alex and Zach Powell whom he thought of as family. Lloyd was one of eight children.  He is survived by his twin brother, Dean Doughty, brother Cam Mullins and sisters Jean Tuttle and Brecky Daithe. Lloyd will be honored Thursday, May 6th with visitation from 5pm – 7pm at Avance Funeral Home located at 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, OH 45014. On Friday, May 7th there will be a service at the funeral home starting at 11:00am followed by a Celebration of Life at Basil 1791 located at 241 High Street, Hamilton, OH 45011.
