Harry C Deaton

DEATON Harry C., age 88, of Fairfield passed away on December 23, 2014 at his residence. He was born on March 3, 1926 in Perry County, KY to Ambrose and Alma Deaton. Harry married Mary Weaver on October 9, 1948 she preceded him in death on January 14, 1998. He was a veteran of the Army, WWII and was awarded with the Silver and Bronze Stars; Purple Heart; Bronze Arrowhead for Invasion; Paratrooper of the Year for the 17th Airborne Division; 3 major campaigns stars, Company I, 513 Parachute Infantry, 17th Airborne Division, Battle of the Bulge, Operation Varsity. Harry was employed as a manager for 34 years at Mosler Safe until his retirement in 1988; Lifetime member of VFW 1069; Kentucky Colonel; and made a hole in one at the Fairfield Golf Course. He is survived by his children, Michael Deaton, Mark “Bo” Deaton, and Melanie Simpson; grandchildren, Maggie Simpson, Richard (Carrie) Deaton, Jennifer(Chris Shirah) Rowland; great grandchildren, Courtney Piatt, Gabe Rowland, Logan, Loren, and Rian Deaton. Harry is also survived by his trusty dog Roscoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings. Visitation will be Friday December 26, 2014 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rob Rosenbalm officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
