Harry Thomas Sr.

THOMAS, Harry Sr., age 93, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday. He was born to the late Vernon and Nannie Thomas, Feb. 13, 1921 in a log cabin on the family farm in Estill County, Kentucky. He married Sylvia Trauthwein on December 4, 1943. Harry worked as a certified shop electrician until he retired from Cincinnati Industrial in 1983 to become a full time farmer. He continued to work the farm he owned in Riley Township until 2005. He is survived by three sons, Harry (Jerri) Thomas Jr., Alan (Patricia) Thomas, Randal (Joyce) Thomas; four sisters, Marcella Saylor, Elwanda Pearson, Joyce Chambers and Sue "Babe" (Richard) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Sonya (Christopher) Hockwalt, Shanda Thomas, Harry Thomas III, Ryan (Erica) Johnston, Alana (Randy) Bernhardt, Michelle Thomas, Christopher (Denise) Thomas and Stephanie (Kevin) Hunt; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Sylvia, his wife of 56 years; his sister, Dorothy Massie; his brothers, Raymond Thomas, Eugene Thomas, Jennings Thomas and Vernon Thomas Jr. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, Fairfield. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Willis officiating. Entombment will follow St. Stephens Cemetery.
