Helen Bodine Bohler, age 81, formerly of Fairfield OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 under the watchful care of her loving daughter Stephanie McFarland.
She was born on July 7, 1935 in Houston Texas and later moved to Kirkwood, MO where she attended Kirkwood High School and established lifelong friends. Helen attended the University of Missouri, was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and taught physical education before taking positions in advertising with Gardner Advertising, Ladies Home Journal, and Time-Life / Asia Magazine.
In 1966, she met her husband Thomas Bohler in Chicago, and moved to Milwaukee where she found her love of the Green Bay Packers and the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Helen and Tom were transferred to Fairfield, OH in 1982 where she continued to raise her family and spent 20 years employed with Olsen Staffing Services. In retirement, she volunteered her time with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfield, OH; Mercy Franciscan at St. Raphael in Hamilton, OH, and Queen City Dog Training. Helen loved the game of golf, was passionate about her art as a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, adored her Labrador Retrievers and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
A loving mother, she will be missed for her incredibly supportive and caring personality and eagerness to serve others. During her residency at Mason Christian Village, in Mason OH, she worked to bring a smile to others and make everyone’s day a little brighter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bohler in April 1994 and sisters, Alice Craig and Mary Deilman. Helen is survived by her daughter Stephanie McFarland and husband Todd; her son Patrick Bohler and wife Stephanie; and by her grandchildren Brooke, Brenna, Evan, and Owen; and her faithful dog, Tango.
Visitation will be held at Avance Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday,November 17, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, 45014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 18, 2016, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Niles Rd., Fairfield, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Cincinnati, Alzheimer’s Association, or Susan G. Komen.
