Hiram L. Cox
June 4, 1925 — January 2, 2010
Age 84 of Fairfield, passed Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born June 4, 1925 in Hamilton, OH, the son of William and Bessie (Abene) Cox. On February 9, 1946 Hiram married Phyllis McKenzie who later preceded him in death on March 30, 1986. On February 10, 1995 Hiram married Shirley Martin. He attended: Hamilton High School; Purdue University; University of Missouri; Xavier University; and University of Texas, earning SRA (Senior Residential Appraiser) degrees and designations. Hiram was the owner of H&T Enterprises from 1947-1968; VP of Home Federal Savings and Loans from 1968-1975; and Owner and Operator of SRA Real Estate Appraisal Services from 1974-2009. Hiram was a Veteran of the US Army during WWII and a member of the East River Road Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his wife, Shirley Cox of Fairfield; son, Tom (Denise) Cox of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Cox and T.C. Cox along with future daughter-in-law, Katie Kessler. Hiram was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Phyllis Cox; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. - until time of service (7 p.m.) Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East River Road Baptist Church, River & Symmes Roads, Fairfield, OH 45014.
