Age 81 of Hamilton, passed away, Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his home. He was born November 4, 1926 in Hamilton, the son of Frank and Laura (Caudill) Burns. On October 3, 1970 Homer married Barbara Forsythe in Mt. Healthy, OH. He was a Veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving in WWII. Homer worked 45 years as a pipe fitter for Champion International Papers until his retirement on January 19, 1990. He was a member of the Champion Old Timers; United Paperworkers Local #1967; Tennessee Squire; and a Charter Member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Homer is survived by his wife, Barbara Burns; sons, Gary (Marsha) Burns and Rick (Lisa) Forsythe; daughters, Dena (Robert) Kilgore, Melinda Thompson, and Carolyn Smith; grandchildren, Damon and Rachel Kilgore, Kristin Corbit, Alison and Christopher Thompson, Megan Smith and Annabeth and Rachel Forsythe; and numerous special, loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank "Pappy" and Laura Burns; brother, Thomas Burns; sister, Sally Carter; and son, Randy Forsythe.
A special thanks to the Hospice Nurses and Caregivers who comforted the Burns family, especially Dr. Slobodan Stanisic and the staff at Mercy Fairfield outpatient oncology.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. - until time of service (12 noon), January 5, 2008 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Revs. David Miller and Howard Stanifer officiating.
