Horace Spear

Horace Spear, age 88 of Hamilton passed away Tuesday September 6, 2005 at Vitas Hospice - Ft. Hamilton. He was born August 7, 1917 in Cicero, IN, the son of Erdy and Louisa (Boyer) Spear. On January 7, 1940 he married Evelyn Lynn in Indianapolis, IN. Horace was a member of: Richmond Road Baptist Church; Ben Franklin Lodge No. 719 F. & A. M.; Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati Chapter; Hamilton High Twelve No. 414; and Ft. Hamilton Chapter No. 568 O.E.S. He was an owner of Machine Tool Corporation for 25 years before retiring in 1984.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Lynn; children, Larry (Brenda) Spear of Terre Haute, IN and Judy (John) Apol of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Lynnelle (John) Combs of Brookville, OH, Michele (Matt) Tinnin of Laurel, MD, Ken Visser of Grand Rapids, MI and Doug (Amy) Visser of Cedar Springs, MI; and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Aaron Combs; Taylor Herring; Tristan, Alexis and Coby Visser; and several nieces and nephews. Horace was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 5 sisters; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Mae Visser.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday September 9, 2005 Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Masonic and Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m., also on Friday immediately following visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made Richmond Road Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2170 Hamilton-Richmond Rd., Hamilton, OH 45013.
