Horace G. Wooton

March 23, 1920 — June 19, 2004

Horace G. Wooton, age 84 of Hamilton passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Hamilton. He was born March 23, 1920 in Perry County, KY, the son of William and Nancy Ann (Holmes) Wooton. On August 2, 1946 he married Anna Marinich in Hazard, KY. Mr. Wooton was a Veteran of WWII serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1939 to 1945. He worked as a machinist at Xtek (formerly known as Tool Steel Gear and Pinion Co.) for 30 years before retiring in 1982. Horace was also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association; Hugh L. Bates Lodge, #686 F. & A. M.; Fraternal Order of Eagles #3680; the American Legion; and the Kentucky Colonels.

He is survived by his son, Billy J. Wooton; sisters Mildred

(Quinton) Napier, Billie Ann Harvey, and Elizabeth (Clifford) White; grandchildren, Jennifer Ann (William) Wissman, Roy Carson (Janet) Hibbard, Jr.; son-in-law, Roy Carson Hibbard, Sr.; great-grandchilren, BreeAnn Rose Hibbard, Donovan Hibbard and Richard Hibbard; and dear friend, Frances Fugate. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Anna Wooton; daughter Gloria L. Hibbard; brother, Stephen Wooton; and sister Marjorie Baker.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday June 24, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Jack Young officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. The family will accept condolences at www.avancefuneralhome.com.
