KNIPPER, Howard Eugene
Howard Eugene Knipper died at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Sunday, July 3, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born January 23, 1927 in Hamilton, OH to Catherine (Sellers) and Francis William H. Knipper who both preceded him in death. His surviving brother Charles (Doris) Knipper resides in Palm Coast, FL. Siblings Frank Knipper, Wilber Knipper and Catherine (Juan) Chavez preceded Howard in death.
Howard served in the Philippines with the US Navy during World War II. He received the WW II Victory Medal, Philippines Liberation Medal and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.
In October, 1948, he married Ruby Maxine Jenkins who died March 24, 1974. From that marriage he is survived by loving daughters Cheryl Sue (Larry) Creach of Hamilton and Deborah Lynn (Bill) Jarchow of Simi Valley, CA.
In 1976 Howard married Dorothy Jo (Dottie) Langevin and is survived by her. On June 4th they celebrated their 35th anniversary.
After 43 years of service at Champion Paper, he retired in 1989. He was a member of the Masonic Temple and the VFW, and a long time member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. His witty remarks entertained those around him and will be sorely missed. Howard had a unique perspective on events and coined many phrases that are frequently used by those that knew him. He enjoyed many hobbies including working in his yard, bowling, pitching horseshoes and softball.
He is survived by many loving friends and family members. Grieving family members include stepson; Dean Langevin (Roni) of Fairfield and their children Amber and Christopher, grandson; Larry H. Creach, Jr. (Johnnetta) of Liberty Township and their children Taylor, Lauryn Nutt, Caitlin, Drew and Avery, grandson; William H. Creach (Sarah) of Hamilton and their children Makenzie and Will, grandson; Steven D. Creach (Alisa Collins) of Hamilton.
The funeral will be at 12 noon on Thursday, July 7 at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH with Rev. Barbara Dafler officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 a.m. - noon. Graveside services will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
