Jack O. Rupp

Age 85 of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Berkeley Square. He was born in Middletown, OH on April 16, 1923 the son of Warren C. and Mildred (Oglesby) Rupp. A Veteran of World War II, Jack served with Company "G" 311th Regiment, 78th Infantry Division. He was severely wounded on January 5, 1945 resulting in being hospitalized for the next 2 years in Army Hospitals. Jack retired from Champion International in 1985 after 37 years of service. On June 17, 1972 in Lexington, KY Jack was married to Ethel M. "Sis" Sroufe. They enjoyed 33 wonderful years together until her death July 1, 2005. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton, a life member of the Hamilton Elks Lodge #93 as well as a life member of the 78th (Lightning) Infantry Division Veterans Association.

He is survived by sons, Gregg Rupp of Laurel, IN, Brad (Linda) Rupp of St. Petersburg, FL, Lewis (Rita) Sroufe of Anderson Township and Ralph (Betty) Spivey of Grand Prarie, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lindsay, Erin, Robyn, Mike, Kelly and Ginny, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Warren Rupp Jr., his wife; and sister, Janice Rupp.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - until time of service (1 p.m.), Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Dr. Dennis Metzger and Rev. William C. Brantingham officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamilton or to a charity of one's choice.
