Jim Todd, age 66, of Hamilton passed away on March 2, 2019. He was born on April 11, 1952 in Peoria, IL to John H. and Kathleen (nee Wallace).Jim lived a life characterized by his love of family, learning, music and servant leadership.

Family recalls him rarely being seen without a musical instrument or a book in his hands. He was a long-time school principal in Springfield, Illinois, known affectionately as “Mr. E” and remembered for greeting his students with harmonica playing and “high fives” on the steps of the school building. Former students and parents think of him fondly for the special care he took with each child – even carrying a wheelchair-bound pupil up stairs to get to class or arranging a dream trip to watch Chicago Cubs baseball for a student fighting cancer.

Later in life, Jim would work as a writer and editor, creating and contributing to dozens of works relating to the Christian faith through Standard Publishing and was a long-time Sunday school teacher and member at Fairfield Church of Christ.

Jim is survived by the people he liked to affectionately brag on and talk about the most: his wife Debra; children, Rachel Abke and Sarah Eichenberger; grandchildren, Wally Abke, Millie Abke, and Banks Rexford McRae. He is also survived by his siblings, David A. Eichenberger and Diane K. Jones-Dunham; mother, Kathleen Eichenberger and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fairfield Church of Christ, 745 Symmes Rd., Fairfield 45014. Funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be offered to Fairfield Church of Christ.
