James C. Hurst

James C. Hurst of Denver, CO, formerly of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004 after a sudden illness. Jim was born November 14, 1947 in Hamilton to Roscoe and Opal (House) Hurst. He graduated from Taft High School and attended Miami University majoring in Accounting.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded two purple hearts and The Bronze Star. After his service to our country, he moved to Denver, CO where he owned and operated a video store and later became a Real Estate Agent.

Jim's loving heart and sense of humor endeared him not only to his family but to his many friends who were just like family to him. Although miles apart, we all treasured the many visits between Denver and Hamilton.

Jim is survived by and will be dearly missed by his loving family, including sister Sophia Thomas and her husband Jack of Springboro; brother David Hurst and his wife Nella and brother John Hurst and his wife Mary Lou of Hamilton; brother Charles Hurst of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and sister-in-law Dianne Hurst of Hamilton; nephews Brian Thomas, Deron Hurst and Kyle Hurst; nieces Shari Botts, Michelle Hurst and Jenny Hendershot; and great nieces Erika Chitwood, Esther & Victoria Thomas, Jadyn Hendershot and Eleanor Hurst. He is also survived by numerous dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roscoe Hurst Jr., nephews Ryan David Hurst, Richard L. Thomas and Timothy L. Thomas, and his beloved dogs Sam and Minnie.

"If my passing has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much: Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch."

Funeral services are being held at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20 with Dr. Dennis Metzger officiating.
