RAMSEY
James E. of Hamilton age 95, passed away on November 24, 2012. He was born on May 30, 1917 in Elora, TN to William and Lela (nee Austin) Ramsey.
He is the beloved husband for over 67 years to Melva (nee Jones) Ramsey; loving father to their five children; Karen (Ken) Polizzo, Roger (Willa) Ramsey, Kristi Strain, Rona Ryan, and Robyn Ramsey; much loved grandfather of 10 and 7 great grandchildren with another one on the way. He is also survived by his sister Sarah Hubler.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Tyler Kiep; his brother, John O. Ramsey; sisters, Iris Hughes and Jean (Ralph) Thobe.
Jim joined the United States Marines in September, 1941 serving his nation until 1946 when he was honorably discharged with the ranking of Gunnery Sergeant. During his tenure in the military he saw action in the Pacific Theater in the battles of Tinian, Sipan, and Guadicanal. After his return to civilian life he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Hamilton for 32 years until his retirement in 1975 as Assistant Postmaster.
After he retired he enjoyed working in his garden and mowing grass. He was an avid reader, loved all college sports, and avidly cheered his Cincinnati Reds. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife and children.
Special warm "thank you" to Dr. Davin and his staff, Jim always said "not only is he my doctor but he is also my friend"; to the Woodlands of Hamilton and their wonderful staff for being so kind and taking such good care of Jim: to Hospice of Hamilton for their great empathy and compassion to our family.
