James "Jim" Smith

SMITH James “Jim”, age 65, of Fairfield, OH passed away on July 6, 2014. He was born on May 2, 1949 in London, KY to General and Rose Smith. Jim is the beloved husband for 42 years to Kathy (Hale) Smith; loving father to James B. (Sylvia) Smith; dear grandfather of Kelby Tackett, Braden Smith, and Madison Smith. He is also survived by his brother, Denzil (Jenny) Smith; sister Cosetta (Matt) Hale; brothers in law, Felix (Lisa) Hale Matt (Cosetta) Hale, and Darrell (Sherry) Hale; sister in law, Wanda (S.M.) Lewis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Sophie Barton, Sue Wilson, and Ronnie Smith. Jim served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star. He was also was a member of the AM Vets and Monkey Mutual Aid Society in Hamilton, OH, American Legion, VFW, Eagles, all in Fairfield, OH. Visitation will be Wednesday July 9, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. There will be a second visitation from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday at House Rawlings Funeral Home, 510 East 4th St. London, KY 40741. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at House Rawlings Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery, Blackwater, KY with full military honors.
