SMITH

James, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024. He was born on July 11, 1935 in Dayton to the late Melvin Smith and Fay Gaines. James was a veteran of the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. On May 1, 1954 he married June Smith (nee Behne), who preceded him in death in 2018. He is survived by his devoted children Kathy (Sy) Swart, Karen (George) Stewart, Kim Smith, Jeff (Betsy) Smith, and Michele (Glenn) Skora; loving grandchildren Angie Smith, Alex Swart, Sarah Achor, Stephanie Swart, Chris Smith, Aaron Smith, Lance Hulley, Allen Hulley, and Vinnie Skora; and 10 great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by Ken Behne, brother in law; Carol (Howard) Covert, sister in law and Andrea (Thomas) Hughes, sister in law; and numerous other family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 3720 St. Martin Place, Cheviot, 45211. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
