SUITS, Jr. James W.

James W. Suits, Jr., age 93, of Hamilton, Ohio, went to be with his Lord Monday, March 19, 2018 at Westover Retirement Home. Born in Wallins Creek, Harlan County, Kentucky April 27, 1924, he was the son of J. Walter Suits and Norah F. (Howard) Suits. He is survived by his adoring children: J. Bruce Suits (Pam) and Connie (Larry) Proctor; grandchildren, Kristy (Kyle) Gantz, and Adam Proctor; and his three great grandchildren Kari, Kole and Klay Gantz.   Jim was preceded in death by infant daughter Mary Martha; his parents; and his loving wife, Wilma C. (Adkins) Suits. He was devoted to his family, neighborhood, community, lodge, church and nation, always placing others before himself and providing a helping hand and a kind word.  He was an active member of Fairfield Church of Christ and Benjamin Franklin Lodge #719.  He and Wilma helped develop "Keystones" at their church.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, working in his yard and garden and reading - especially his Bible. Jim spent much of his time visiting hospitals, nursing homes and those in need. He served his country proudly, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 in October, 1941 and served two tours in the Pacific during WWII. He was a humble man, always respectful, but also an excellent story teller. Moreover, he was an example of “The Greatest Generation”, ferociously independent, choosing always to repair instead of replace things broken if possible. His goal was to leave the world a better place than he found it and he accomplished his mission.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. – until time of services at 4 p.m. (Masonic Service, Scottish Rite Ring Ceremony, with Funeral Service respectively) on Sunday, March 25 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio 45014 with David Hargrave officiating. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 26 at Resthaven Cemetery, 3000 Hwy 840, Loyall (Harlan) KY, 40854.  Memorial contributions may be sent to Safe Haven Farms, P.O.
