In Loving Memory of James Edwin Trauthwein

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Edwin Trauthwein, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, James was the son of Lewis and Marie Trauthwein. He dedicated over 30 years of his career to General Motors. Beyond his work, James was a lifelong skilled tradesman with a deep passion for working with his hands. Throughout his life, he enjoyed building intricate models of trains, boats, and buildings. He also loved fishing, boating, and sewing-hobbies that brought him joy and reflected his creativity and craftsmanship. James is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Victoria; his brother Richard (Claire); and sister Judith (Kenneth). He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel (Betty) and sister Mary Lou (Michael). James was first married to Patricia, his high school sweetheart. Together they raised six children: Melanie (Richard), Deborah (Gregory), Douglas (Cindy), Robert, Ronald (Fran), and Jeffrey (Cheryl).
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. After Patricia's passing, James was married to Audrey for 34 years until her passing. Through Audrey, he gained a second loving family and is survived by five stepchildren: Diana, Ronald, Cheryl, Rick, and Michelle, along with several step-grandchildren. James will be remembered for his quiet strength, creative spirit, and deep love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 11:00am until the time of service (12pm) at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd.
