James Joseph Childers, 78, passed away February 22nd at Hospice of Hamilton, Ohio. James “Jim” was born December 16, 1938 to Joseph Henry & Dorothy Genevieve (Mehan) Childers in Springfield, Ohio.
Jim graduated from Springfield High School in 1956. He spent many years in banking and worked at Kissell Mortgage Company for a majority of his career. Jim also owned a business in Oxford, Ohio and after retirement drove a bus for Miami Metro in Oxford.
He is survived by his wife, Becky (nee Reaver); 3 children, Brenda (Erik) Verhulst of Haarlem, The Netherlands, Linda (Stan) Granger of London, Ohio, and James T. Childers of North Port, Florida. Jim also has 8 loving grandchildren, Stephan, Sanne, Amelia, Alessa of The Netherlands, Melissa, Christina of London, Ohio, and Brandon, Nicklas of Bradenton, Florida.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 27 from 5-7pm at Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, Ohio 45014. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11am at Ferncliff Cemetery Chapel, 501 McCreight Ave. in Springfield, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Cincinnati for the care they give in assisting families and loved ones in their final days.
