Janet Marie Johnson
Janet Marie (Murray) Johnson, age 70 of Fairfield, passed away at Mercy of Fairfield on Sunday February 15, 2004. She was born June 12, 1933 in Hamilton, the daughter of Hugh and Hazel (Barnes) Murray. On October 10, 1951 she married Matt Johnson. This union of 52 years brought her great joy and three beautiful children, with grandchildren to follow. This family was only second to God, in whom she had great faith, allowing her to live a life of contentment. Janet was happiest when doing things for others, especially her immediate family and church family. She shared fellowship with other Christians at West Side Baptist of Hamilton; First Baptist Church of Fairfield; and North Fairfield Baptist Church.
Janet also appreciated the little things. She grew up in a difficult childhood, and was eager to provide for her family, especially in the department of love. With her positive attitude, selfless service and a vibrant personality, she overcame many obstacles. She used her unique organizational skills to bring others together. Quite often she would quote her favorite scripture, "This too shall pass", to help herself and others deal with the threats of problems. After God and her family, Janet found refuge in the ocean, gardening and traveling.
She is deeply missed by her husband, Matt Johnson; son Jeffrey Johnson; daughters, Deborah Rambo and Rhoda Johnson Rossell; brothers, Earl "Max" and Ernest "Corkey" Murray; sisters, Judy Suding and Barbara French; grandchildren, Ty, Brett, Melissa and Matthew; great-grandchildren Corrine, Jacob, Celeste and Amber. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Leroy, Kenneth, and Shirley Murray.
A celebration of her union with her Savior will be 10:30 am. Friday, February 20, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield with Pastor Robert Skirvin officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzeimers' Foundation or the North Fairfield Baptist Church. The family will accept condolences at www.avancefuneralhome.com.
