Jerry Lee Reynolds, Sr.

November 1, 1921 — May 30, 2009

Jerry Lee Reynolds, Sr. joined the saints eternal on May 30, 2009, slipping away peacefully in his sleep. Mr. Reynolds was born in Buckhorn, KY on Nov. 1, 1921 to Elihu and Doralee Bowling Reynolds, parents of 8 sons and 1 daughter. Mr. Reynolds attended Eastern Kentucky University as a pre-medical student until his induction into the US Army's 81st Infantry Division Wildcats in WWII. A decorated war hero, he earned two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, and Purple Hearts among others. He was decorated for "uncommon valor" in combat by repeatedly risking his life to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. He moved to Hamilton, Ohio after the war, and married Dora Lee Evelyn Burnett on Jan.16, 1954. Together they reared three sons, Paul Richard Reynolds, Rev. Jerry Lee Reynolds, Jr., and Jack Kelson Reynolds. His wife Evelyn, and two sons Paul and Jack precede him in death. Mr. Reynolds enjoyed his career as a paper worker at Beckett Paper Company until his retirement in 1988. A resident of Lindenwald, he and wife Evelyn enjoyed their lifetime home on Hayes Avenue until moving to Atlanta, GA in 2007. An avid Cincinnati Reds fan and passionate UK Wildcats fan, Jerry most enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. His siblings, Margaret Eversole, and Tom (TK) Reynolds, both of Fairfield, OH; and his brother Jack M, Reynolds, Lake City, FL survive him.

He leaves behind his son the Rev. Jerry L. Reynolds, Jr. and daughter-in-law Ann, and three granddaughters: Erin Elizabeth, Kelly Marie, and Casey Lee Reynolds. It brought Mr. Reynolds great joy being surrounded by his family in Atlanta.
