Listen to Obituary

Jiing Huei Chiou, age 74, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, March 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 25, 1951, in Taiwan.

After honorably serving in the Taiwanese Navy, Jiing immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. He embraced his new life with determination and gratitude, proudly becoming an American citizen and dedicating himself to mastering the English language through diligent study and perseverance.

Jiing was known for his remarkable work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He spent many years working as a cook and later as a head chef in Chinese restaurants across the country, eventually opening several Chinese restaurants of his own. In 1997, he began a long and valued career as a janitor at Scarlet Oaks, where he remained until his retirement in 2022 after 25 years of faithful service. Frequently working two jobs, seven days a week, Jiing was deeply committed to providing a better life for his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and support anyone in need.

In his free time, Jiing enjoyed learning about cars and staying active through walking and biking the trails at Sharon Woods—where he seemed happiest. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved granddaughter, Caroline. He took great pride in attending her sporting events and supporting her in all her endeavors.

Jiing will be remembered as a kind, caring, and gracious man whose quiet strength and generosity touched many lives. He will be deeply missed. The family extends special thanks to his dear friends, Bob and Barbara Doucette, for 35 years of their unwavering friendship and support. Additionally, the family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their support.

Jiing is survived by his daughter, Rosetta Glock; his son-in-law, Andy Glock; and his granddaughter, Caroline Glock. He is also survived by his twin brother, Kuo; nieces Jenny and Michelle of California; and many other siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins living in Taiwan and throughout the United States. He was also held in high regard by his extended Glock and Richter families.

In accordance with Jiing’s wishes, no formal funeral or memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, Jiing would appreciate donations made to Hamilton County Metro Parks at https://secure.givelively.org/donate/great-parks-forever
