John G. King

83 of Fairfield OH, formerly of Portsmouth, VA passed away Thursday, March 3,2011 at his home after an extended illness. Born December 18, 1927 in Waxhaw,NC, he was the son of the late Frank D. King and Johney Gannettie King. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Dewey M. King, his stepmother, Lucille C. King and stepson, John David Loyd. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patty C. King; sister Barbara A. Knox of Gadsden SC; and a brother, Jerry D. King of Chester SC; daughters, Debra K. Thurman of Roanoke, VA; Susan A. (Larry) Dewitt of Burlington KY; and stepson Sandy Loyd; 7 grandchildren,5 great grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews. A WWII veteran, John retired from Hennis Freight Lines after 27 years of employment; he also worked at Tri-State Driver Training School and Sam's Club. He worked in the trucking industry for 35 years.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. - until time of service (3:30 p.m.), Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Cincinnati, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Hamilton, 1010 Eaton, OH 45013.
