John Arthur Motzer

John Arthur Motzer, age 80 of Fairfield Township, went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1943, the son of John (Jack) and Pearl Motzer. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1961 and worked at Cincinnati Bell until his retirement in 1991. John enjoyed being in his workshop and selling crafts at festivals and craft shows with his wife for the last 39 years. He also loved fishing on Watts Bar Lake in Tennessee. John attended church his entire life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton, Ohio, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. John’s heart was with children's ministry where he helped on Wednesday night programs, VBS, and loved building sets for the Kings Kids music choir and VBS. He was only a phone call away for anyone in need. John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl; Daughters Rhonda (Dan) Combs, Jill Fowler, Mandy Chaney, and Sara (Chris) Owens; grandchildren Chad (Nicole) Andrews, Chelsea (Dylan) Slater, Noelle Spencer (fiancé Jesse Whipple and son Jude), Sydney (Hayden) Montgomery, Cooper Chaney, and Cameron Chaney; great-grandchildren; Parker Andrews, Everett Slater, Ernest, and Margaret Spencer. He is also survived by his brother Douglas (Kathy) Motzer, sister Judy (Cletus) Morgan; Nephews Tim Motzer and Steve Morgan along with numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew John Morgan, and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 12-2 p.m. until the time of service with Dr. Dennis M Metzger officiating.
