McKNIGHT

John “Coy” M. – departed this world for Heaven after a valiant battle with cancer on February 27, 2016.  He was born May 12, 1936 in London, Kentucky.  He retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 ½ years of service.  He was blessed with a very witty and unique personality, one in which he knew how to live and love.  All who knew him cherished him.  He dedicated his life to Christ many years ago and encouraged his children and grandchildren to do so.  He was the most kind and generous person who never saw a stranger.  He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.  He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Kathie Sue (Schaney) McKnight.  To this union were born three (3) children, two boys and a girl.  Gawayne J. McKnight (deceased), Darryl J. McKnight (Diane), Shawnda Hinderlong (Marc) and an adoptive family Jennifer, Marcel and Kyra Van Nimwegen.  Seven grandchildren: Brandon J. McKnight, Jessie McKnight, Jacob McKnight, Megan McKnight, Chevy Hinderlong, Kyra Van Nimwegen and Jhonnalyn Hinderlong (named after him).  Four great-grandchildren: Seth Burns McKnight, Rogan McKnight, Journi McKnight and Caden McKnight.  Two sisters: Jewel Bartel (Hal) Betty Benge (Ernest); Three brothers: Harold McKnight (Brenda), Bruce McKnight (Judy) and Thomas McKnight (Paula).  Also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends whom he loved and loved him.  He also leaves behind his dogs and companions: Chief and Prince.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, reading the bible, playing chess, attending Sunday School and Church.  He volunteered many hours working at the church and helping those that needed help.  He so enjoyed his grandchildren, swimming with them in the pool, grill outs and getting together by the pool with his family.  He was a member of Liberty Heights Church, a 32 nd degree Mason and a veteran of the US Army.  The world has lost a very special person, but Heaven has gained one of God’s children.  Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 10-12 Noon at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH, 45014 with services beginning at 12 Noon.  Burial immediately following at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hamilton. Pastor Brad Cunningham of Liberty Heights Church officiating.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to Liberty Heights Church in his name.  John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but crossed over from death to life.”  Online condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.avancefuneralhome.com
