Ford, Joseph Emmett, aged 79 years of Hamilton passed away July 11, 2012. He was born August 14, 1932 to Harold E. and Cecilia (Hickey) Ford in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Joe graduated from the University of Iowa in 1957 with a BA in Political Science. On May 3, 1958, he married Helen (Bockenthien) Ford and to this marriage, four sons were born: Brother Christopher E. Ford, FSC of Romeoville, IL, Joseph Edward (Juli Cappelli) Ford of Hamilton, Thomas S. (Joye Schockman) Ford of Cincinnati, and Andrew O. (Jane Rush) Ford of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Kathryn Cecilia Ford, and by his brother Michael Ford of Henderson, NV. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his sister, Patricia Payne and his brother Daniel Ford. He retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance in 1993. Joe was an avid reader and a member and past-president of the Friends of the Lane Public Library. He tutored reading for students at Lincoln Elementary School and volunteered for Hospice. He was a parishioner of the St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a caring husband, father and grandfather; he was sentimental, steadfast and had a great sense of humor.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 17 at Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, Fairfield, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday July 18th at 10:00 am at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, Reverend Mike Pucke presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of the Lane Public Library, 300 North 3rd St. Hamilton Ohio 45011 and Hospice of Hamilton 1010 Eaton Ave. Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
