Joseph Conol Lattuga

September 10, 1931 — August 1, 2010

Age 78, was called home by Jesus on August 1, 2010 at The Morris Center for Caring Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Evelyn Lattuga. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 10, 1931, son of Cono and Edith (Delligatto) Lattuga.

Growing up in New Miami, Joseph attended St. Stephen's, graduating from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1949. He served in the Army for 2 years with an Honorable Discharge in 1953. He worked for numerous years at Champion Papers and later in life in office supply sales retiring in 1994. He married Madeleine Tobergte on April 16, 1955 and is survived by their four loving daughters and spouses; Amy and Dan Doyle, Jill and Dave Spoerl, Sally and Joseph Donges, Mary Lynne and Lee Campbell, also seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Joseph, married to Evelyn (Reeves) Thompson on February 7, 1997 in Jacksonville, Florida, is survived by his two loving stepchildren and spouses in Florida; Susan and Tommy Higginbotham and Johnny and Linda Lloyd and six step-grandchildren. Joseph is also survived by his sister, Shirley Lewis of Nebraska, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joseph had so much love for all his family. He enjoyed watching sports and NASCAR, country music, and UDF sundaes with the grandkids. He also loved his Georgia Bulldogs. One of the highlights of his life was a trip to Italy for him and Evelyn by his niece, Jeanne and her husband, Pence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers; Carmella Norris, Anna Mae Henry, Elizabeth Lattuga, James Michael Lattuga and Robert Lattuga.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, OH 45014. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd. Fairfield, OH 45014 with Father Larry Tharp, Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Stephen Cemetery. The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Northeast Florida for their loving care of Joseph during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice of NE Fla.
