Joy Marie (nee DeBord) Godsey, age 89 of Fairfield, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday morning October 5, 2025.

She was born March 20, 1936, in Willailla, KY (Rockcastle County) to the late Luther DeBord and Nannie Susie DeBord and was the third youngest of nine siblings.

Her husband of over 68 years, James L Godsey, preceded her death on March 20, 2024.

After coming to Cincinnati, OH in 1953 she met James, and they married in 1955. She worked at Cincinnati Bell as an Information/Assistance Operator early on and then later again after raising their children.

She enjoyed gardening, creating flower arrangements, being involved with church activities over the years and enjoying the company of family, friends and neighbors… especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by sons Jeff (Kathy) Godsey of Liberty Twp. and Greg (Robin) Godsey of Cedar Rapids, IA. Grandchildren Jeff (Diana) Godsey Jr. (Liberty Twp.), Brian Godsey (Baltimore, MD), Kiley (Trey) Hester (Lebanon, TN), Caleb (Amber) Godsey (Dripping Springs, TX) and Keenan Godsey (Cedar Rapids, IA). Great Grandchildren Jeff III and Will Godsey, Dean, Cohen and Paxton Hester and Lyndon and Forrie Godsey.

As per Joy’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
