Joyce Roberts

Age 76 of Fairfield, OH went to with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 3, 2011 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Joyce was born a coal-miner's daughter, grew up in Bokoshe, OK, and traveled the country by was of Tulsa, OK, Chicago, IL and finally Fairfield, OH where she lived for 40 years. Her career focus led her into serving as court-reporter for 12 years and notary public for the late Judge Robert L. Marrs, and 20 years for Hamilton City Schools, serving as an executive secretary to the assistant superintendent. Along with her career interests Joyce felt very strongly about civic responsibilities. Until her bout with cancer began, she was a board member of the Federation of Republican Women, actively involved with the Butler County Republican Women Club. There she served on the policy committee, screening committee, Lincoln Day, regional Chair and Chaplain of the Butler County central committee. Joyce was also an Honorable member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels. To help women who own their own business in the community of Fairfield, Joyce organized the Chapter of Limestone American Business Women Association (ABWA). Even though her career and community contributions meant a lot to her, caring for her family was always first.

Joyce leaves behind her loving husband, Bob Roberts; children, Ronald Roberts of Tampa, FL and Vickie (Chris) Dunlap of Fredricksburg, VA; sister, Shirley Grant; grandchildren, Candice Dunlap and Joshua Dunlap; and many aunts and cousins in Oklahoma and outreaching areas.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. - until time of service (6 p.m.), Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Ross Community Methodist Church 2943 Hamilton-Cleves Rd. Rt. 128, Hamilton, OH 45013 with Rev. Grant Montgomery officiating. Joyce's final resting place will be along side of her parents in Wilburton, OK. The Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield is serving the family. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cinti, OH 45206 or a donation to the Gideons Bible Society.
