Jude Edward Haslinger

Jude Edward Haslinger, 80, of Hamilton, Ohio, died at Kettering Health Hamilton Hospital, on December 21, 2023. He was born in Fremont, Ohio on July 31st, 1943, to the late Paul and Jane (nee Ochs) Haslinger. Jude is survived by his second wife, Rhonda, his daughter, Judy (Tom) Shaffer, stepdaughter Kristi Randolph, sister Marita (Patrick) Hick, sister-in-law Dianne Haslinger, brother-in-law Wayne (Marlene) Rowe, brother-in-law Michael Thompson (Linda), close friends Richard and Sande Arter, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna, and his brothers Philip and George.

Jude graduated from St. Joseph’s Central Catholic High School in Fremont in 1961 before joining the US Army. He served in Korea as a Military Policeman and was transferred to Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Virginia. During that time, he met Donna while she was working at the Post Exchange. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he joined the Virginia Beach Police Department, working as a detective in the Juvenile Division and later promoted to Sergeant. During that time, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from St. Leo’s College, Virginia Beach Campus. Jude returned to his hometown of Fremont and for a short time taught classes at Terra Technical College and worked for his brother George’s floor covering business. He joined the Gibsonburg Police Department as Chief of Police in 1979.  In 1981, he was hired as the Chief of Police in Union Township (West Chester), Ohio. In 1984, he left the Police Department to become an internal investigator for General Electric Aviation in Evendale, Ohio. He finished his career working security for Tiffany & Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jude was an active member of the Fremont Knights of Columbus and the Hamilton American Legion Post 138 where he served a term as Post Commander. He enjoyed socializing with his friends and neighbors, which is how he met Rhonda. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, watching John Wayne movies, playing dominos and hearts, vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, and cruising on the “dam” ships of the Holland America Line.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 28th at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd, Fairfield, Ohio, 45014.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11a.m., Friday, December 29th at St. John Neumann Church, 12191 Mill Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio, 45240. Burial with a graveside service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
