Judith Spencer (Hamner) Hamner

December 19, 1945 — December 25, 2014

Judith Spencer Hamner passed from this life to her heavenly home on Christmas Day, her favorite holiday! She is reunited with her loving parents, Ann and Mel Hamner and her friend, Bill Roth. Judy was born on December 19, 1945 in Richmond, Virginia and lived her first few years in Blacksburg, Virginia where her father attended engineering school at Virginia Tech. It was during those years that she developed an illness that caused her brain damage. Judy’s mother, Ann, was a faithful and constant advocate for her daughter, certainly contributing to Judy’s long life. Judy is survived by her grieving sister, Linda Susan Hamner Hellmann, her brother-in-law, Fred B. Hellmann, her niece, Stacy Eckstein (Neil) and two nephews Michael Hellmann (Michelle) and Chris Hellmann (Gina). In addition, Judy had a great-nephew, A.J. Hellmann, and two great-nieces, Emma and Avery Hellmann. Judy was blessed to reside at Takoda Trails in Fairfield and to attend Creative Learning Workshop. Though behaviors resulting from her disability made care-giving a challenge, Judy was accepted and loved by those who cared for her. She was especially fond of Anthony, who treated her with dignity and light-heartedness. Her family is deeply grateful. Judy had purpose in this life. It was to bring forth that light of love from those individuals who knew and cared for her. They will surely receive God’s blessings. “Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 Judy Hamner’s funeral will be on Tuesday, December 30th at Avance Funeral Home. Visitation is from 11:00-1:00 with a service following. Burial will be at Crown Hill Memorial Park. Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com
