Laverne Matilda (Volz) Campbell

CAMPBELL LaVerne, age 90, of Fairfield passed away at her home on Monday, March 31, 2014. She was born on October 31, 1923 in St. Marys, IN to Henry and Mary Anna (Gramman) Volz. LaVerne married Walter L. Campbell on January 28, 1949 in Hamilton he preceded her in death in 2008. La Verne’s career began at Wright Aircraft Plant in Lockland, which is now General Electric Aviation, testing the B-29 and other jet engines. She later worked for Dr. DeCourcy in Cincinnati and then worked with her husband in their business, C&C Excavating, until their retirement in 1982. LaVerne was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Fairfield for over 50 years. She is the loving mother of Debbie (Gary Waggoner) Moore, Darlene (John) Hamilton, Kathy (Les) Olson, Jay (Darlene) Campbell, David (Sandy) Campbell, Gary (Sherry) Campbell, Rick Campbell, Pam Hodges, Scott Campbell, and Lisa Campbell; dear grandmother of 20; great grandmother of 14. LaVerne is also survived by her brother, Edward Volz of London, KY; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Shane Campbell; and 5 siblings, Florence Nunier, Billy, Urban, Elmer, and Joe Volz. The family would like to express their gratitude to Vitas for the loving care LaVerne received during her illness. Visitation will be Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with Rev.
