Lawrence L. Baumann

Lawrence L. Baumann, 69, succumbed to Lou Gehring's disease at his home on October 17, 2006. Born on August 17, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois, Mr. Baumann was the eldest of 5 children born to Wilhelm and Helen (Siegwarth) Baumann.
A 1955 graduate of Spalding Institute, Mr. Baumann received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bradley University in 1960. He was a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor in Ohio and several other states. He held a number of engineering positions early in his career before founding Baumann Engineering with his wife, in Peoria, Illinois in 1970. Subsequently, Mr. and Mrs. Baumann operated the family business in Sarasota, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2002, Mr. Baumann sold the company to 3 of his children who today operate it as Baumann Engineering, Inc. in Cincinnati.
Mr. Baumann married his high school sweetheart, Fern "Deb" Darlene Zaborac in Peoria, Illinois, on August 17, 1957. Married for 48 years, they raised and are survived by 6 children: Lawra, Thomas (Teresa), Karl (Marsha), Michael (Laura Trevino), Mark (Kimberly), and Karin (Chad Creekmore). Mr. Baumann is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Ann (William) Kirchmeier of Jackson, MI, Rita (Wesley) Green of Herndon, VA, Joseph (Patricia) of Brimfield, IL, and Nicholas (Tracy) of Metamora, IL. His wife preceded him in death on August 23, 2005.
Mr. Baumann was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Fairfield, OH. Memorials may be directed to the Sacred Heart School Fund, Hospice of Greater Cincinnati or the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati. Also, the family will accept condolences at www.avancefuneralhome.com.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 20 at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield with Father Larry Tharp, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery, in Hamilton. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield.
