Lorene Powell

Lorene Powell, age 78, of Fairfield, passed away at her residence on Friday February 13, 2004. She was born November 15, 1925 in Russellville, OH, the daughter of Lee and Alice (Whitaker) Pitmon. In 1983 she married Carl Powell in Cincinnati. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Carthage.

Her fun loving attitude and caring personality earned many great memories for her family to cherish even after a stroke three years ago. She was great with flowers in her garden and loved to bake for her family, especially her husband. Lorene also enjoyed playing sweepstakes and dancing to "Rocky Top".

She is survived by husband, Carl Powell; children, Robert (Barbara) Taylor, Judith (Buck) Raines, Ronald Powell and Helen (Dan) O'Connor; brothers, Millard and Bill Pitmon; sisters, Charolette Schivener and Christine Bingham; grandchildren, Dena (Tom) Mapes, Heather (Mark) Schreibeis, Tiffany (Phillip) Roberson, Robbie Taylor and Kathleen O'Connor; and great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Jacqueline, Alex, Samantha, Kayla and Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ivalean Cordes and Ruth Wilson; and brother John Pitmon.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Burial will be in Owenton, KY.
