Louis J Allen

Age 83 of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 4, 1924, the oldest son of Shivey Lovins and Nellie (Sexton) Allen. He attended the Hamilton City Schools, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1943. As a youth he was a newspaper carrier and worked for the Wargo News Company. Louis later became employed by the Champion Paper Company as a pulp tester. He married Geneva Little in Middletown, Ohio November 23, 1947. Louis graduated from St. Xavier University in 1966, with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Louis was well known in the community for his industrious work ethics, retiring from the Champion Paper Co. after 44 years and the Mercy and Providence Hospitals after over 40 years as a certified respiratory therapist. He was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many areas of leadership and responsibility, including that of Scout Master of Troop 948. This led to his becoming an avid traveler and camper throughout the entire continental United States with his family. He was also an enthusiastic bridge player, participating in several local Senior Citizen Center groups. He leaves a multitude of friends, associates, and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; and grandson, Johnathan Prickett. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Geneva Allen; five children, Sharon (Walter) Prickett, of Fairfield, Ohio, Marla (Alan) Pulsipher of Greentown, Indiana, David (Martha Gardner) Allen of Tooele, Utah, Penny (Charles) Meadows of Sandy, Utah, and Melonie (Ed) Michaels of Hamilton, Ohio; brother , Donald Allen; step-sister, Linda Roark, both of Hamilton, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm, Thursday August 14, 2008, at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, Ohio. Morning visitation will be held 10 am until time of service (11 am), Friday August 15, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4831 Pleasant Ave. Fairfield, Ohio, with Bishop Russell Striebeck officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery, Rt. 129, Liberty Township, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizen Center, 140 Ross Ave. Hamilton, Ohio OR to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Condolences may be sent to avancefuneralhome.com.
