Louis Marvin Bittinger

Age 73 of Liberty Township passed away October 17, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 17, 1937 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of Ralph Bittinger and Glenna (Maynard) Bittinger. He graduated from Hamilton High in 1955. He married Doris Getz on June 11, 1960 and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He retired from Duke Energy working as a natural gas serviceman for 38 years. He then worked at Columbia Oil for 8 years. Marvin was a member of Monkey Mutual Aid, highly involved as a coach and volunteer, in the Lindenwald Little League, was very active in the Hamilton-Fairfield Basketball League for over 35 years, and assisted his son as a coach for his grandson's select baseball team. He enjoyed gardening and especially tending to his rose garden. Marv and Doris enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and several countries. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Marvin is survived by his wife, Doris Bittinger; a daughter, Cynthia and her husband, James Megginson; two sons, David and his wife, Lynn (Hall) Bittinger and Douglas and his wife, Rebecca (Shilt) Bittinger. All of Liberty Township. Five grandchildren, Caitlin Megginson, Adam Bittinger, Dakota Bittinger, Megan Bittinger, and Lindsey Bittinger; and a sister, Marlene (Bittinger) Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Brenton Bittinger, and his brother, Martin Bittinger. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by a service at Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to The Brenton Donald Bittinger Memorial Fund for children with special needs.
