Age 93 of Fairfield passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at his home. He was born December 1, 1916 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Louis and Emma (Gries) Dinger. On November 26, 1941 Louis married Frances Coleman in Lawrenceburg, IN. She preceded him in death in 1996. He was a US Army Veteran serving during WWII in Manilla from 1944 - 1946. He retired from General Motors in the brake division of Delco Moraine in Dayton. While working as an engineer, he had several inventions patented. Louis was a member of the VFW Post #1069 and the Fairfield Church of Christ. He was a very generous man who adored his family. The family would like to thank the staff, waitresses (especially Dee), and patrons of Pearl's Diner for the kindness and friendship shown to Louis.
He leaves behind his son, William "Bill" (Ellie) Dinger of Hamilton; grandchildren, Sherry (Bill) Kindt of Cleveland, OH, Susan Bostrom of Columbus, OH, and Andy Dinger of Nashville, TN; great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Bosco of Cleveland, OH; niece Beverly Mendenhall of Shreveport, LA; and great-nephew, David Mendenhall of Shreveport, LA. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Lillian Rueter.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. - until time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with David Hargrave, minister of the Fairfield Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Midwestern Children's Home, P.O. Box 48, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162-9987.
