Madeline Phalen

January 27, 1926 — December 2, 2006

Age 80, of Fairfield passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006 at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 27, 1926 in Roane Co., WV, the daughter of Barnabus Snow and Letha (Shamblin) Cook. In 1960 Madeline married Clarence "Bugs" Phalen in West Virginia.

Her greatest passion was working along side her husband and son at Phalen Motors and Phalen Import Auto Parts. Her keen sense of humor and her way of dealing with people allowed her to be held in high regard with the people of the community. She was known by many as "Lady Bugs", for support of her husband, "Bugs'" political career, particularly as Mayor of the City of Fairfield and a founding member of the Fairfield Community Foundation.

Madeline leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Clarence "Bugs" Phalen; children, Jill (Kevin) Reardon, Clarence "Bugsy" Phalen, III, Jean (Tim) Meyers, and Jo Beth (Scott) Yambrich; grandchildren, Ben and Brett Phalen, Bryan and Katie Reardon, Tanner, Connor and McKenna "KK" Madeline Meyers, and Spencer Yambrich; and brother Calvin Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Katherine Edwards; and brother, Roy Cook.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Ambur Baer and Paulette McDermott; Hospice of Cincinnati; and her friends at Comfort Keepers.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or to the Fairfield Community Foundation.
