Mae (Konishi) Prentice

Mae Chisae (Konishi) Prentice It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mae Chisae (Konishi) Prentice at the age of 97 on Sunday, March 23, 2025.  She was born July 2, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Eddie and Edna Konishi. She graduated from Seattle Pacific College with a teaching degree.  Most of her many years of teaching were in the Hamilton City School District teaching kindergarten to her beloved students.  After retirement, she continued her teaching as a substitute teacher throughout the district. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and was one of the YMCA Academy of Achieving Women in 2010. On June 19, 1952, she married William L. Prentice in Seattle, Washington. From this union, she leaves behind a daughter, Leilani (Ronald) Ray; granddaughters Erin (Roger) Corbett and Emily Dreisbach (Kyle Rheinfrank); and 3 great-grandchildren Roger, Riley and Reese Corbett. She is also survived by a sister, Frances Kojiro of Honolulu, Hawaii.  She was preceded in death by siblings Helen Nakagawa, Jeanne Choo, Paul Konishi, and Sharon Miyazawa; sister-in laws Rose Rouse and Shirley Hester as well as a great-grandson, Reid Corbett. The Prentice Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to friends and family for all of their love and support during this long journey. Thank you to the nurses and staff of Westover and Berkeley Retirement Centers as well as Vitas Hospice for their care. A special thank you to Dr. Erika Brudzinski for her long-time care as Mae’s family and Vitas physician during her lifetime. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 5:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd, Fairfield, Ohio 45014. The service will be officiated by Pastor Mark Finfrock.
