Age 93 of Hamilton passed away September 11, 2009. She was born in Kenton, KY on April 18, 1916, a daughter of William "Burney" Barnes and Violet (Kirk) Barnes. Margie was a 1932 graduate of Holmes High School in Covington, KY. On April 16, 1938, she married Henry B. Childs who preceded her in death in 1992. Ms. Childs was employed as a bookkeeper for various companies throughout the Hamilton area for many years. She was a long-time member of the Redeemer Church where she was involved in many organizations and dedicated much of her life to the children of that church, touching many young people's lives.
Margie is survived by one son, Dan and his wife Beverly; two grandchildren, Casey Childs (Tara Hogan) and Christy (Jeremy) Randolph; great-grandchildren, Sydney Berling, Bradley Childs and Brooke Hogan; two sisters, Betty Jaeger of California, KY and Delores Ellzey of Crestview Hills, KY; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barnes, Mary Jo Barnes, Virginia (Willard) Lewis and Shirley Singleton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Flora "Sis" Wladysh; six brothers, Jerry, Jackie, Johnny, Robert, James and William.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Another visitation will be offered from 9:30 a.m. - until time of Funeral services (10:30 a.m.), Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Redeemer Church, 3431 Hamilton-Middletown Road, Hamilton, OH 45011 with Rev. Dr. Kim Katterheinrich, Pastor and Rev. Brian Richards, Asst. Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
