Marvin McCollum

Marvin McCollum, age 50, of Hamilton passed away on Monday, February 2, 2004 at Vitas of Ft. Hamilton Hospital. He was born September 4, 1953 in Hamilton, OH the son of Marion & Rena (Blanton) McCollum. Marvin was a Sergeant of the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1974. On April 2, 1977 he married Nanette Hufford in Springboro, OH. Marvin worked as a Foreman at Hamilton Lumber Co. from 1976 to 1990. His true passion was Coaching. Marvin coached the girls volleyball team at Badin High School from 1990 to 2003. He also coached the Lineshot Junior Olympic Volleyball team in Cincinnati from 1993 to 2003 and was a mentor to many teammates.

He is survived by his wife, Nanette; his son, Shawn McCollum of Cincinnati; his parents, Marion & Rena McCollum; a brother, Glenn McCollum of Lebanon, OH along with a host of friends.

Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene, 1425 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, with Pastor Dan McDowell officiating. Cremation will follow and burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Greenwood Cemetery. The Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield, is serving the family.
