Mary Louise Emerson, age 91, died at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Tri County Extended Care in Fairfield, Ohio.
She was born on June 11, 1922, to the late James and Kathryn Strong. In 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio she married her husband James Holdren Emerson who preceded her in death in 1983. Mary Louise worked for many years at Ohio National Insurance Co. in Cincinnati. For over 30 years she served as the treasurer to Lindenwald United Methodist Church, and was a member of the church for more than 55 years. Mary Louise was known for her sewing skills, her cooking and baking - especially pies and cookies, and her ruthless card and game playing.

She is survived by her three children, Nancy Miller of Holt, Michigan, R. Scott Emerson of Knoxville, Tennessee and Roger (Peggy) Emerson of Harrod, Ohio; her brother James (Helen) Strong; her sister-in-law Doris Emerson; also survived by five grandchildren, Steve (Deanna) Miller, Chris (Rhonda) Miller, James Emerson, Alex Emerson, and Brennus Emerson; five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant sister, Jeanette.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 3:30 PM at Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, with Rev. Valerie Waibel officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9 from 1:30 PM until time of the service. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to The Children's Home of Cincinnati, 5050 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45227 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
