Mary Etta Patton

Mary Etta Patton (nee Maxey), a longtime resident of Lockland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the age of 72 surrounded by her family. After courageously surviving breast cancer for 10 years, she faced a second battle with unwavering strength. Though her spirit remained resilient, her body could no longer endure the fight.

She was born in Moreland, KY on March 1, 1953, to the late Margaret (Southerland) and Lee Roy Maxey, Sr. She retired from Duro Bag in Covington where she began working at age 18. She had an eye for repurposing old things, extremely creative, and had a passion for taking pictures and documenting the life of her friends and family. Other hobbies included a sizable collection of porcelain dolls and Barbies, Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind collectibles. She was a giving soul and above all else, her happiest times in life were being surrounded by her family. Mary Etta was a mother, Mom-Maw, sister, aunt and friend who will be remembered for her selfless, giving nature, kindness, loyalty - someone who always brought out the best in people.

She is survived by her children, Amanda (Bryan) Avance, and Kimberly Patton; beloved grandchildren, Kayla Messer, Morgan Keller, Paityn Keller, Brooklynn Hais and Isabella Hais; great-grandson, Kaiden Harrell; siblings, Larry (Linda) Maxey, Violette (Jim) Fausz, Johnny Maxey; sister of the late Lee Roy Jr. (Celo) Maxey; several nieces and nephews along with extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Mary was also preceded in death by her in-laws Hessel (Hazel) Patton and her beloved yorkies, Cody and Chloe. A Visitation will be held on Friday September 12, 2025, from 11:00am until the time of service (12pm) at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, OH 45014 with Pastor Cecil Day officiating. Burial to follow at SpringHill Cemetery, 6894 Princeton Rd. Liberty Township, OH 45044.
