age 78 of Fairfield left to meet his savior on Saturday,

September 2, 2006. Matt was born in Hazard, Kentucky on June 18, 1928, to George and Sally (Fields) Johnson. He served his country in the US Army. Matt was a Tool and Die Engineer for Fisher Body for 34 years. He was a long time member of West Side Baptist Church. After raising three children, he became a member of First Baptist Fairfield and eventually North Fairfield Baptist Church. He was a proud member of the Giddeons and a virtual Bible scholar.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Marie (Johnson) Rambo of Columbia, SC and Rhoda Louise (Johnson) Rossell of Fairfield, OH; 1 son, Jeffrey Johnson of Tulsa, OK; 4 grandchildren, Ty S. Lubbers, Brett Michael Rambo, Melissa Nicole Lubbers, Matthew Royal Rambo; 3 great grand children, Stephanie Corrine Lewis, Jacob Nicholas Lubbers, and Celeste Monet Lewis; 2 brothers, Cuthbert Johnson and Laverne Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet Marie (Murray) Johnson; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Pastors Mark Wilson and Tim White officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 5 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Giddeons.
