SLATER, Maxine
Maxine Slater, age 89, formally of Hamilton passed away on Thursday June 14, 2007 at her daughter's residence in Middletown. She was born July 28, 1917 in Carthage, OH, the daughter of Sigmund Adam and Eva Julia (Longfellow) Kopp. Maxine had worked for Ft. Hamilton-Hughes Hospital and Powells Nursing Home as an LPN. She was a 50 year member of the Washington Chapter NO. 195, Order of the Eastern Star and past President of the Ladies Shrine. She was actively involved as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and Meals on Wheels. Maxine was a member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church.
On November 21, 1970 she was united in marriage to Merle Slater.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (John) Lichtefeld of Middletown and Ronda (Junior) Flora of Bethel, sons, Bill First of Worthington, OH and Ronald Slater of Riverside, CA, her long time friend, Ralph Hall and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Booker and her second husband, Merle and son, Larry First.
Funeral services will be 1p.m. Thursday June 21, 2007 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Chaplain Dennis Betts officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will also be Thursday from 12noon until time of service with Order of Eastern Star services at 12:45p.m. at the funeral home.
