Melba Childress, age 95 of Hamilton passed away Tuesday April 26, 2005 at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder. She was born December 6, 1909 in Hamilton the daughter of John W. and Elsie M. (Stempfley) Halderman. Melba worked as a telephone operator at Cincinnati Bell for most of her working years. She was a member of ITOPS (International Telephone Operators) and the First Church of God.
She is survived by her brother, Gene (Ruth) Halderman of Pontiac, MI; cousin, Henrietta Nohrer of Hamilton; 2 nephews; 3 nieces; and special friend, Betsy Exline. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Raymond Halderman.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday April 30, 2005 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Dr. Keith Gebhart officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will also be Saturday from 12 noon - until time of service at the funeral home.
