Merry Ann Baker

June 6, 1933 — January 1, 2006

Merry Ann Baker, daughter of Gwynn and Merry Marguerite (Platter) Baker (both deceased) of North Vernon, IN, beloved sister of Margaret Carlton and Carolyn Maschmeyer, dear Aunt of Maggie Buckley and Michael Carlton, Great Aunt of Jack and Luke Buckley, and True Friend to many, died January 1, 2006 at age 72. Residence: Brown County, Ohio; formerly a resident of Finneytown, Glendale, Hyde Park and Mariemont, Ohio.

Merry Ann taught 2 years in Lorain, OH and 30 years at St.Bernard - Elmwood Place Junior High School until her retirement in 1985. She earned many honors including the dedication to her of the library at the Elmwood school facility. Besides touching the lives of hundreds of children, she was a teacher's teacher.

No funeral or visitation. There will be a memorial open house Sunday, January 8, 2006 from 1 to 4 PM at the home of her family in Brown County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Bernard - Elmwood Place Student Aid Fund c/o St. Bernard Schools, Washington Avenue, St. Bernard, OH 45217 or to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN 47876. The family will accept condolences at www.avancefuneralhome.com.

Merry Ann was a "card carrying" member of the "Peeps" Fan Club and will be remembered for her generosity, infectious laugh, and loyalty to her family, friends, and the many students she taught. She was one of the "good" guys.
