Nancy Juanita Sizemore ("Truth Seeker") ---b. May 10, 1916 passed away September 6th 2005, in Mason, Ohio. She was known to all who loved her as "Juanita" and served in many leadership positions in the church and alongside her life-long partner and late minister husband, Alva Don Sizemore (d. February 2002), serving with him in the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Florida and Ohio. She was a substantial force for faith and life as a teacher and leader in the church.
Two sons, Roger Sizemore, Savannah, Georgia and Larry Sizemore, Atlanta, Georgia, four grand children and eleven great grand children and brothers Paul, Kenneth Lloyd and Gail Conley survive her.
Juanita won the national teacher of the year award in the Christian Churches in 1960 for her leadership as a teacher in the adult "Truth Seekers" Sunday Bible School Class (Labelle View Christian Church, Steubenville, Ohio), which increased from forty to eighty-four in attendance, with seventy-two members of the class uniting with the church during her tenure as their teacher. She started teaching Sunday Bible School at the age of twelve and during her life has taught also college-age students and youth. Her service to the community include leadership in the Order of the Eastern Star and being on the board at the YMCA. She was an accomplished speaker and storyteller and was voted Mother of the year in 1956, in Steubenville, Ohio.
A public school teacher in everyday life, she received her education at Kentucky Christian College, Milligan College, Geneva College and a Masters Degree from The Ohio State University.
Her family and many friends will miss her dearly as a multi-faceted light for "truth-seeking" which will live on in the many lives she has touched.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Friday September 9, 2005 at the Christ's Church at Mason, 723 Western Row Rd., Mason, OH 45040. Visitation will also be Friday from 9 a.m. - until time of service at the Church. Graveside services will be later in the day at Kentucky Christian College Cemetery in Grayson, KY. Memorials may be made to the Sizemore Scholarship Fund, c/o Kentucky Christian College, 100 Academic Parkway, Grayson, KY 41143.
