age 91 of Wayne Township, died Monday, October 13 at Hillandale Health Care in Fairfield Township. She was born the youngest of three children to William and May Howell on February 8, 1917 in Mulberry, Ohio. She was born into Christ in 1933 when she was baptized into the Church of Christ.
She attended Mulberry School, a one-room school house, for three years. Her family moved to Loveland, Ohio in 1925, and Nora finished her schooling there, graduating from Loveland High School in 1936. After graduation she attended Moeller School of Cosmetology, completing her training in 1937. The following year she opened her own business, Nora's Beauty Shop, in Montgomery, Ohio, where she also began to reside.
On November 25, 1939, Nora married William Howard Sharp, and to this union four children were born. It was when Nora was expecting her first child that she sold her business. Nora and Howard then moved to Hamilton, Ohio, where they lived for several years before buying a house in Overpeck, Ohio in 1950. Soon afterwards they opened a poultry and egg business at their home. Howard, previously a minister in Hamilton, established a congregation at the historic church building in Hickory Flat Cemetery in St. Clair Township.
Nora began working part time at the post office in Overpeck in 1965. In 1977 she transferred to the post office in Cincinnati, where she worked full-time until retiring in 1982.
She lived in Overpeck for 53 years and for a time was a member of the Women's Auxiliary, Overpeck Volunteer Fire Department. She also was involved in the P.T.A. at New Miami School and helped organize after-prom parties.
Family and friends alike describe Nora as an especially good-natured, warm, caring, considerate person. As a mother and grandmother she showed her love by giving understanding, acceptance, comfort, and
gentle guidance. As a minister's wife, friend, and neighbor she showed compassion for those in need by welcoming them into her home, her heart, and her prayers. Her enduring sense of humor was an inspiration to anyone who spent time with her, especially during her final year.
She is survived by her son, Bill Sharp of Dayton and daughters Wilma (Don) Chadwell of Wayne Township, Linda (Bobby) McCoy of Middletown, Bonnie (Dave) Krause of Wayne Township, grandchildren Eric Sharp, Erin Cooper, Lenora McCoy, Donna Chadwell, David Chadwell, Melissa Myers, Tracey Vest, Nathan Krause, Josh Krause, Andy Krause, and Mindy Krause, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, close friend Paul Leppla, several nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law Lynne Sharp, brother Roy Howell, sister Ethel Baron, nephews Doug Howell and Eugene Baron, and an especially close niece, Martha ("Marti") Cosby.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Cincinnati and Nora's caregivers at Hillandale.
