Norman William Bunting Jr. – Age 83 of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born June 15, 1942 in Gary, Indiana to the late Norman Sr. and Freda Bunting (Rudder). The family moved frequently during his father's employment in the steel industry. Norman grew up partially in South America returning to the US in 1954. He graduated from Fairfield High School in June 1962. He received BS Degree from The Ohio State University in 1962 and a MA Degree from The University of Buffalo in 1976. Norman also served in the United States Navy as aircraft mechanic. Some of his many interests included natural history, hiking and International Harvester/Farmall tractors. He was an avid bird watcher and reader of many topics of interest to him. He was a self-taught Amateur Classical Pianist. Norman also had his pilot's license and enjoyed talking about airplanes and flying adventures. Norman was self-employed since 1977 specializing in antique restoration, furniture repair and other wood-working services. He made many lasting relationships through his work where people began as clients and ended as friends. Norman also was part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Program where he formed deeply rooted bonds that carried him through his passing. Norman was a very understated man although the impact he had on others was not. He will be fondly remembered for his quiet demeanor, unrivaled integrity and endearing kindness.
